Problem

There have been many difficulties encountered during this pandemic. Local businesses, in particular, have been struggling to keep their business open, due to stay-at-home orders and indoor dining being limited.

Relevant Research

According to research, about 1/3 of local and small business suffered due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Layoffs and closures occurred, and businesses had to shorten their business hours to help save money.

Solution

We wanted to find a way to help support those in our community and spread the word on their business to help them stay open a little longer. Our solution was to create a website that would take inspiration from Yelp, but target the small businesses in the area.

Wireframe

After research was conducted, we began to wireframe and plan our the website. Wireframe and mockup was done on Figma.

Result

GoLocal is a website created to find a way to help and support those in our community and spread the word on their business to help them, especially in a time when stay-at-home orders were implemented.

Users are able to enter what kind of store they are looking for and/or the area it is located in. They will be shown results based on their inputs to find a new place to visit.
